The purpose of a Chakra Balance healing.

In most people most of the time there are imbalances between the front and rear aspect of each chakra and between the seven main chakras. An imbalance means that there is more energy moving through one part than another. This creates an unbalanced personality and physical body. Often when one aspect is tense, contracted or shut down then the energy will try to flow in a vicarious way.

So for instance if someone is scared of showing their loving feelings so that the front of their heart chakra is contracted, then the rear aspect will overcompensate by expanding, such that they become overly willful.

So this technique is to help create balance, even out energy flow and improve ‘communication’ between the different aspects of ourselves
A chakra balance healing is often done as part of an energy healing session rather than on its own.

girl-snowWe all have, within us, an Inner Child, and yet for those of us who have been abused, neglected or bullied in childhood, that inner child is very often a hurt, lonely and a very frightened inner child.
It is our images of the past that have a major effect on our lives. With a trained energy healer you can clear some of these images and re-parent or reclaim that wounded child,  and uncover any conscious or unconscious mythology of ourselves and begin to re-evaluate and transform it. Linear time does not apply when we work internally and with the unconscious. It is possible to bring our present wise and loving self, to meet and help our young Inner Child and offer comfort and support and find a new joy and energy in living. Inner Child healings can have amazing results.
By bringing to consciousness the feelings of our wounded inner child we can realise how we react from our subconscious in situations. But once we know why we react in situations, we can make a conscious decision to come from love and react in a more loving way.
Through guidance,  understanding and love we can learn to know how to form healthy and loving relationships by learning to love ourselves primarily. Because we have dysfunctional relationships internally, we have dysfunctional relationships externally. Loving ourselves is about unconditional love which means no judgement and no shame.

I highly recommend you check out Dr. James Messina’s excellent article on the subject of inner child here.

istock_000003263969xsmallYour body benefits from a detox once or twice a year, should you want give it a try, here is a quick and easy diet. The aims of a detox are to reduce the workload of the digestive system, allowing it to perform more efficiently, and to stimulate the parts of the body responsible for cleansing and elimination.

To gain the real benefit from this cleansing diet it must be adhered to for at least 10-14 days.
We recommend you plan ahead before starting to be able to do the appropriate shopping.
It is also of benefit to work up a mild sweat each day by exercising or sauna.
On the fourth or fifth day (or sooner) some people experience ‘hangover’ type symptoms; this is a normal part of the detoxifying process and will pass in a day or two. If this happens then drink extra water.

FOODS THAT CAN BE INCLUDED
50% raw food.
All fruit
All vegetables – lots of greens. Potatoes can be included.
Sprouted pulses and seeds
Millet, Quinoa (the only alkaline grains)
Lots of fun and rest
Herbs, esp. Parsley
Herb teas, barley cup, caro etc.
Fresh fruit and vegetable juice (without sugar)
Superfoods and natural supplements (not synthetic)
Minimum of 4 pints water daily, (preferably filtered or bottled)
All food should be fresh and preferably organic.

FOODS NOT TO BE INCLUDED
All meat and poultry
All dairy produce, including eggs. Soya or rice milk can be substituted
Oils and fats (including margarine) and all food cooked in them.
Nuts and Seeds
Grains including rice, oats and rye.
Wheat in all forms including bread, cake pasta, noodles, cous cous etc.
(check labels on foods as wheat is often added as a thickener)
Sugar, artificial sweeteners (again check labels) RAW honey or molasses can be substituted.
Chocolate. (Fresh or dried fruit makes a satisfying snack)
Worry and Stress
Spices, pepper and vinegar
Salt keep checking those labels.
Coffee, tea and soft drinks.
Alcohol and cigarettes
Food additives like flavouring, colouring and preservatives
Avoid tins, packets, frozen and pre-prepared.
Avoid frying, boiling and microwaves. Steaming, grilling and baking are best.
To get the most out of detoxing you need to look after your mind as well as your body. Well-being depends on maintaining a balance between your emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health, if this balance is upset it disrupts your body’s harmony and leads to ill health.
Meditation, massage and relaxing therapies which help remove toxins all help with a detox programme. Soul Essence offers several therapies to help you relax, de-stress and remove toxins from your body.

Why we Need to Drink Water February 3, 2009

Water is the substance of life and without it life cannot be sustained. We are comprised of approximately 80% water, which makes us very reliant on clean structured water for our health and well being. An adult can survive 3 weeks without food but only 3 days without clean water.

Thirst is not a reliable indication of our hydration level, the colour of urine is a much better indication. The clearer and lighter the colour of the urine the more hydrated you are, the darker the colour the more dehydrated you are. See chart below as a very rough guide

Body has plenty of fluids

Clear

Body has adequate fluids

Light yellow

Body is low on water.

Dark yellow

Sugary soft drinks, carbonated water, tea, coffee and alcohol, steal tremendous amounts of water from our body and cause us to become dehydrated. Even beverages such as milk, vegetable and fruit juice require water to be properly digested.

Imagine how the quality and type of food impacts on our levels of hydration. High sodium, spicy foods, or too much meat and wheat products are difficult to digest and need large amounts of water to be processed in our body.

Water plays a vital role in nearly every bodily function, including digestion, nutrient absorption and chemical reactions. We need water to sustain proper circulation and flexibility of our blood vessels. Water helps remove toxins, also known as acidic waste from the body and in particular the digestive tract. Our body’s temperature is regulated by our hydration. Imagine a car running on an empty radiator.

When we are dehydrated it could be said we are in a state of “survival”. The brain signals to the rest of the organs that there is not enough water to go round, and as the brain is the centre point of all physical functions it takes priority, which leaves the rest of our organs in emergency. Emotionally this can produce fear and anxiety.

Constant failure to drink enough water can lead to chronic cellular dehydration, which leaves the cells of the body weakened and vulnerable to disease. The cells become brittle and fragile which impacts our immune system and leads to chemical, nutritional and PH imbalances.

Dehydration can occur anytime of the year including winter months when indoor heating systems can dehydrate our cells more easily than in the hot summer months.

You should drink half your weight in ounces of water every day to provide your body with its minimum water replacement requirements, as long as you are reasonably fit. Otherwise begin by sipping water and gradually build up. “Chewing” your water before you swallow, helps the body to absorb it more easily, as the enzymes in your saliva break water down, making it more accessible to your system.

Work out your weight in pounds and divide by 2 (i.e. 140lbs / 2 = 70, you would need 70 fluid ounces of water. 20 fluid ounces = 1pint. 50cl = approximately 17 fluid ounces). This is only a guide to how much water you should drink each day. If you are very active obviously your intake needs to be increased. If you have any kidney or heart problems seek advice from your doctor before increasing your water intake.

What happens at an Energy Healing session? February 1, 2009

There are three stages to a typical healing session:

Awareness:
An initial period of discussion and evaluation to clarify the various issues to be addressed. The healer can also use Extra Sensory Perception to aid the client in the process of discovering the original cause of their condition.

Release:
This involves hands-on Energy Healing using a variety of available techniques. This can include phases of passively receiving energy work and possibly more cathartic emotional release. This is normally conducted with the client lying down, fully clothed on a therapy table.

Integration:
The session is completed with grounding and bringing into consciousness the newly awakened life force, such that the healing can be integrated into life. This involves further energy work and sharing of guidance received during the session.

Benefits:
The benefits that people experience range from loving acceptance of themselves and others, to the resolution of chronic physical and psychological conditions. A list of benefits is shown on the energy healing page of my website.

Sometimes there are dramatic improvements in only one or two sessions, but it is best thought of as a series of sessions that can go beyond physical health to spiritual evolution.

For more information or advice on whether a particular issue would be helped by energy healing,  contact me by email or phone and I will get back to you.
