Exfoliating the underarms can increase the effectiveness of deodorant. The pores of the underarms can get clogged just as easily as the pores of the face. While many people exfoliate their facial skin once a week, they rarely exfoliate the skin of their underarms. Using the same exfoliating wash on the underarms can remove the clogs from the pores leaving the skin brighter and your deodorant more protective

Have you ever tried…?

Baby oil to make your own scented bath oil. Finding bath oil that smells like your favourite perfume can be difficult. Instead of settling for some other lightly scented oil that is outrageously priced, why not use baby oil to create your own bath oil? Simply add a few drops of your favourite scent to 1/4 cup of unscented baby oil. Add to warm bath water and voila, scented oil.

Thought of the Month….

...that the mere apprehension of a coming evil has put many into a situation of the utmost danger.

F.L. Lucan said that, and it is right. There is no faster way to bring about misfortune than to think it is coming.

Thought is a powerful force, and it is a creative tool that many people give little energy to — or abandon in the face of any real threat to safety or stability.

What are you worried about today? Why? Rather than worry about it, would it not be a better use of your mental time to visualize a positive outcome?

Use your mind in this way today and you will have tapped one of the most extraordinary tools for the creation of your tomorrows.

Sleep is made up of different stages. During a normal night we will cycle through the different stages several times.

– Stage one: the ten minute period of light sleep or dozing.
– Stage two: a deeper sleep that lasts for about 20 minutes and
– Stages three and four: types of deep sleep.

We need deep sleep! This is when our body and brain recover from the day. If you aren’t getting enough sleep you are not going to be able to function at a normal level. So make sure you get your 8 hours a night. Keep your room just for sleeping. If there are stimulants in there you will take longer to switch off. Make it comfortable, dark and cool. And of course, if you are having real trouble sleeping see your doctor.

Have you ever tried…?

Homemade Vitamin E cream for anti aging. Many of the anti aging products today are fabulous, but lots are also full of chemicals that are horrible for sensitive skin. Instead of trying a new product – hoping you will like the ingredients – make you own anti aging cream. In a bowl add 2 tsp plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp lemon juice and the Vitamin E oil from 3 capsules. Mix and apply to the facial skin. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse away. Vitamin E is a fantastic antioxidant. As with anything new, make sure to do a test patch of your home made cream before applying fully.

Thought of the Month….

……that no one does anything they do not want to do.
You always have a reason–and usually, a pretty good one– for doing what you are doing and choosing what you are choosing. Be careful not to convince yourself that you are doing something against your will. Such a thing is impossible.
Therefore, be honest with yourself as to why you are choosing to do a particular thing. Then, do it gladly, knowing that you are always getting to do what you want. The statement “I have no choice” is a lie. You can choose. You simply do not prefer the alternatives available to you, for whatever reason. So you select the outcome that you most prefer. Isn’t that power?

Neale Walsch

Did you know…?

We all want a healthy body! And many of us spend our lives jumping from diet to diet forgetting the importance of muscle. For every extra pound of muscle we add to our bodies we lose an extra 50 calories a day whether we are active or not.  For a healthy body, make sure to build muscle as well as lose fat.

Have you ever tried…?

Blueberries to reduce inflammation. Blueberries contain antioxidants that can reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation is now thought to be one of the main causes in certain diseases like diabetes and cancer. These antioxidants also fight off free radicals which can leave the skin looking and feeling younger as healthy cells begin to regain control over the free radical producing cells.  Considering it is fruit so it’s nice and healthy we think it’s worth a try!

Thought of the Month….

….. that when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, it is not beneficial to go out and build more tunnel.

It was John Quinton who observed that politicians do that.

Maybe you’ve caught yourself doing it, too.

Just when things look like they’re getting better, you start seeing more things that “aren’t right,” or “could go wrong.”

The Universe is essentially a friendly place.

So friendly, in fact, that it will give you exactly what you expect it to.

Isn’t that wonderful? Of course, it depends on what you expect…

Did you know…?

Everyone has long-term goals, whether you want to lose weight, buy a home, improve your career or even overcome an emotional trauma. The thing we forget is that we are human. We like instant gratification. By setting a long-term goal that has no rewards for us until we get there we set ourselves up for failure. Avoid this by yes, setting your long-term goal, but also by giving yourself a set of short term attainable goals too.

A baby doesn’t just roll out of the cot and start walking, they have to go through a process and each new stage gives them confidence and pride so that they yearn for more. So remember to reward yourself! If you go down a dress size; treat yourself to a manicure or haircut.  If you get respect or recognition at work; go out for an evening with friends to celebrate. It doesn’t matter what it is. If you feel you have progressed make sure you really know it!

Have you ever tried…?

Cherries to Fall Asleep Faster. Cherries contain melatonin which is used by the body to regulate sleep patterns. When cherries are eaten before bed, they can reduce the amount of time it takes to fall asleep. On the reverse side, the cherries also balance the circadian rhythm that tells the body when to fall asleep and wake-up. Once balanced, the body will be on a healthier sleep pattern and trouble sleeping will fade away.

Thought of the Month….

..that winning an argument is never the goal of a true spiritual master. Winning someone’s heart is.

The setting aside of one’s integrity is not required to win someone’s heart, but the setting aside of one’s anger may be. It is possible to make a point without making an enemy. It is possible to be right without being righteous. Debating does not have to be debasing.

If there is someone with whom you are disagreeing this day, would it not be wonderful of you to disagree without being disagreeable?

Your makeup will last longer and will look much better if you apply it when your skin is slightly moist. If you apply foundation to dry skin, it will not smooth out well, nor will it blend well. Dry patches of skin disrupt your blending and give you those funny blotchy patches. If you spritz lightly with water then gently pat dry with a tissue you should have the perfect base to apply makeup over.

That said; make sure to give your face a few minutes in between applying your moisturiser and your foundation. Most moisturisers are designed to soak deep into your skin to really nourish the bottom layers of your skin. If you apply your foundation directly after this, it will get drawn deeply into your skin with the moisturiser. This is obviously not good! Your foundation will literally ‘disappear’ and your pores will end up clogged!

The best thing to do is:

1. Cleanse

2. Apply your normal treatment and moisturisers

3. Wait 5-10 minutes for these to soak in

4. Lightly mist your face with water and pat dry with a tissue

5. Apply your foundation

6. Enjoy fabulous makeup!

Have you ever tried…?

Vaseline – When it comes to dealing with the labours of foot work, the cracked heel has to be the most disconcerting. No pedicure or beautiful sandal can make up for that dried skin on the back of your foot. In order to treat cracked heels quickly and easily, many doctors recommend old fashioned Vaseline. Applying Vaseline to the foot before bed and covering with a sock will allow the petroleum jelly time to soak into the cracks of the foot. Over a few short days, you will see a substantial change in the way your foot looks and feels.

Thought of the Month….

…that you must be good to yourself if you are ever going to be any good for others.

This means take a day off once in a while when it’s not scheduled.  Eat of piece of chocolate when it’s not recommended.  Take a nap when it’s just not possible. Get your face into a good book for an hour when you can’t afford to. Soak in a tub when there’s no time to. Stop everything when you’re not supposed to. Do this now, right now.

Olive oil could also be your best friend when shaving because it can cause hair to stand on end. It works wonders to bring the hairs of the leg to attention. To give it a try when shaving, apply the olive oil directly to the leg and work into the skin for a few moments. Shave as usual, then notice how close the shave is with this natural oil.

Have you ever tried…?

Aspirin to remove underarm stains. Aspirin is known as the perfect headache relief medicine, but it also holds power over perspiration stains. When the underarms of your favorite white shirt has lost that bright, white luster try using aspirin to remove the sweat stains. Simply crush two aspirin and mix with a bit of water. Soak the stained area for three hours and launder as usual.

Thought of the Month….

…that virtue cannot separate itself from realitywithout becoming a principle of evil.

Albert Camus said that, and he was right. When we become too virtuous, when we think ourselves to be oh, so right, we become dangerous to ourselves and others.

Be careful of those who imagine themselves to be on the High Road while everyone else is walking the Low. If they really are on the High Road, they will offer to take everyone else with them, not simply tell others that they are going the wrong way.

Did you know…?

Essential fatty acids need to be balanced in the body. Research shows that many people have far too many Omega 6s and not enough Omega 3s. The best source is apparently NOT fish oil, however. Flaxseed oil has a more concentrated source of Omega 3s than fish oil … and without the fishy taste! The flaxseed oil can be sprinkled on salad to increase the anti-inflammatory response in the body. This can decrease the effect of allergies on the body and decrease the risk of developing inflammation based conditions like diabetes and arthritis.

Have you ever tried…?

Snacking on nuts. A few handfuls of raw nuts as a snack food can be really satisfying. Why? Because the protein and fat in them not only satisfy the hunger, but give energy in abundance. Add to this most nuts contain potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, zinc, vitamin E, selenium, copper, calcium and thiamine. Have a handful of nuts every afternoon and you’ll get a variety of important vitamins and minerals.

Thought of the Month….
…that there is a solution. There is. But you must keep going to find it. You cannot stop, you cannot give up.
This is about more than just patience. This is about more than just persistence. This is about absolute knowing that you are able to find a solution with faith.
When you know this, you never give up…and the sense of struggle goes away. You simply keep moving forward knowing that, in the end, all will work out.
And that along the way there will be great insights and wonderful remembering.
