Reflecting on the Year: A Journey Towards Inner Peace and Spiritual Awareness

By Soul Essence, New Eltham, London, UK

As we move into December, it’s natural to look back on what we’ve experienced, learned, and grown from. Reflection offers a wonderful opportunity to pause, find meaning in our journey, and connect more deeply with our inner selves. Taking time to reflect on the past year is not only a way to honour our achievements and challenges but also a way to enhance inner peace and strengthen spiritual awareness.

Here’s a guide on how reflecting on the past eleven months can nurture your journey towards peace and spiritual growth.

1. Acknowledging Growth and Change

The first step in reflecting on the past months is recognising the ways you’ve grown. What challenges did you overcome? What new skills or habits did you develop? Reflecting on these changes helps us see our resilience and progress, encouraging a positive mindset.

Acknowledging growth, even in small ways, brings a sense of peace. It allows us to see that every experience, whether joyful or challenging, has value. This realisation encourages self-acceptance and patience, both important elements of inner peace.

2. Learning from Challenges

No year is without difficulties. Reflecting on these tough times with an open mind allows us to see what they’ve taught us. Instead of focusing on mistakes or regrets, try to consider what you learned from these moments. Did they help you become more patient? Did they show you the importance of setting boundaries or practising self-care?

Learning from challenges, rather than dwelling on them, fosters a mindset of growth. It’s through our difficulties that we often find a greater understanding of ourselves and our values. This understanding is key to building spiritual awareness, as it allows us to connect with our true selves and better appreciate life’s journey.

3. Celebrating Joys and Successes

In our rush to keep moving forward, we sometimes forget to celebrate the good moments. Reflecting on the past months is a chance to remember and appreciate joyful moments, achievements, and times of happiness. Take a moment to think about the people, experiences, and memories that brought you joy. Reflecting on these positive experiences helps build a foundation of gratitude, which is essential for inner peace.

Celebrating these moments nurtures a sense of fulfilment and contentment. It reminds us that, despite the challenges, there is always something to be thankful for. This gratitude strengthens our spiritual journey, helping us to stay grounded and appreciative of life’s blessings.

4. Setting Intentions for the Future

As you reflect on the past months, you might find areas where you wish to grow or focus more in the future. Setting gentle, meaningful intentions can guide you towards inner peace and spiritual growth in the coming month and new year. These don’t need to be strict resolutions; instead, think of them as guiding principles.

Spiritual Laws – The Law of Reflection

There are thirty six or more spiritual laws which offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken form Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I will briefly explain each law over the coming weeks, if you find this interesting I would encourage you to read Diana’s book.

The Law of Reflection
The universal mirror is so honest and accurate that your deepest secrets show up in the reflections you see of yourself. Every person and situation in your life is a mirror aspect of you “as within so without”
When there is someone in your life who you do not like you can spend time trying to change or fix them, however doing this is trying to change the reflection, a form of denial. Once you understand the law of reflection you never again get someone to change so you feel more at ease. These people in your life who you dislike are showing you parts of your life you are not comfortable with. People you like, are mirroring the parts of you that you like and respect.
Whatever you find in your life look out at the reflection in the mirror to see what it is trying to teach you. By understanding the law of reflection we can expand our spiritual growth by looking at what life is telling us.

Quotes from Diana Cooper A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws

“Never try to change someone else for they are reflecting you, so look within and change yourself”.

“The more a characteristic in someone else bothers you, the more your soul is trying to draw a reflection to your attention”.

Understanding these laws can helps us create a happy and joyous life, energy healing can also help us to follow these laws to create wealth and prosperity in our lives, by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc..
