Did you know…?

How can we tell if we are putting strain on our bodies by walking incorrectly? Well here’s a great quick way to assess yourself… Walk directly towards a full length mirror and observe the following:

* Your knees are pointing forward.

* Your hips are level.

* Your arms swing rhythmically as you walk.

* Both sides of your body are symmetrical (arm swing, step length, etc).

* You are walking tall (e.g. your head is erect and your ears are directly above your shoulders).

Now walk alongside a full length mirror and observe the following:

* Your heel makes contact with the floor first on each step.

* You can feel the pressure roll up to the toes as you push off from the floor.

* Your knee is almost fully extended before your heel contacts the floor.

* Your steps are of equal length.

* Your ears are directly above your shoulders and your body is upright.

Have you ever tried…?

Cucumbers – Another great at home treatment for large pores includes the use of cucumber. Cucumber has been used in soaps, lotions and masks for many years and offers a cooling sensation and a natural cleansing agent. A paste created from crushed cucumber, a few teaspoons of lemon and a touch of rose water is a great addition to any skin regime. This paste should be wrapped in a fabric facial cleanser and applied to the entire face. After the skin has dried, rinse away the “soap” with warm water and you will have cleaner, healthier skin.

Thought of the Month….

…….that every day is a new beginning, and that nothing from yesterday has to affect who you are today.

It does no good at all to bemoan what you may have done on a day prior to today — or even, for that matter, a moment ago. You don’t have to carry that into the Present Moment, nor is your guilt about it going to do you any good at all.

Simply resolve to become a different version of your self right here, right now. Use yesterday to inspire tomorrow, not to discourage it.

Did you know…?

We all know too much alcohol is bad for you. But do you realise what it is doing to your skin?

Alcohol dilates the blood vessels in your skin making your skin appear blotchy and red. It also dehydrates your skin making wrinkles look more prominent.

Repeated heavy drinking will dilate the blood vessels in your skin to the point where they loose their tone and will permanently stay dilated.

By all means, enjoy your alcohol if you wish but do so in moderation. And make sure never to drink the day before a big event if you want your skin to look good!

Have you ever tried…?

Jojoba Oil – The oil of the Gods, Jojoba Oil is one of the best natural treatments for eczema and psoriasis. Jojoba Oil is derived from a plant that is native to southern Arizona, southern California and parts of north western Mexico. The oil is added to a variety of skin and hair treatments for its natural moisturizing and healing qualities. Jojoba Oil is available in both refined and unrefined products. The unrefined oil will be liquid at room temperature and smell faintly of fat. The refined Jojoba oil is odourless and colourless. Its waxy substance mimics sebum. High in vitamin E, protein, minerals and EFA’s. Regulates sebum production. It is also a natural cleanser for make up removal

Thought of the Month….

……that it is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.

Napoleon Hill said that, and he was right. Nothing ensures success like ensuring another’s success. And there is someone who is looking for your help and your support today.

Lift that person up, give that person credit, do whatever you can to help that person be a success.

And always remember: What goes around comes around.

Neale Donald Walsch

Your shoes affect you more than you think! Have a look at the soles of your most favourite walking shoes. Look at the wear and tear…is there deterioration at the ball of your foot? The heel? The sides? When you are exercising if your feet are leaning in or out it can cause strain and stress to your body and joints. So get your shoes analysed this week and make sure you are working out with the proper footwear!

Have you ever tried…?

Pine Oil – For those people out there who workout hard and strong, the aches and pains of those worked joints can be tiring and stressful. Pine oil can help. Pine essential oil, when rubbed on the skin, helps to sooth those aching joints. In addition, the scent has been known to invigorate the body and the mind. You can combine pine essential oil with other natural oils to make the best natural massage oil. Other oils could include ginger oils and jasmine oils. Think aromatherapy combine with function

Thought of the Month….

…….that yesterday is a cancelled cheque; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have; so spend it wisely..

Kay Lyons said this, and it is so very true, very accurate. What are you doing today? Are you putting energy into the world that advances your life dream, empowers your life mission and fuels your life purpose?

Did you know…?

Did you know the colour, coating, and shape or size of your tongue can be used as a tool to diagnose your health. A healthy tongue is salmon pink/light red, with a thin white, moist coating and is smooth with no cracks. Have a look at your tongue in a bright light!
Colours

Pale – lack of vitamins, minerals, and/or protein.

Red – fever, generally feeling more hot than cold, sweating easily, thirst, tendency to constipation, irritability, skin problems, excess alcohol or coffee consumption, hives or headaches

A red tip – stress, insomnia, tendency for depression, PMT/PMS

Purple – poor circulation of blood or other fluids in the body

Shape/size

Swollen – generally a digestive problem. (if it is swollen on the sides this indicates a problem with the liver.

Coating

Thick white coating – viral illness eg cold, fatigue. A thick white coating at the back of the tongue could indicate poor digestion)

Brown coating – constipation, excess coffee intake

Yellow coating – usually seen with a red tongue. May indicate a tendency to be over heated, irritable, angry or stressed.

Black coating – high fever from dehydration, infectious disease, digestive problems, fungus infection and long term use of antibiotics.

Peeling – dry mouth and throat, over indulgence in spicy food, discomfort in upper abdomen (heartburn/lack of stomach acid), nausea deficiency in B vitamins.
The condition of your tongue can be transformed in just a few weeks. If you are worried about how your tongue looks go and see your doctor. This article is not a diagnosis of illness; if you are not feeling well please go to see your doctor.

Have you ever tried…?

Apricot Kernel Oil – This oil is made from pressing the seeds of apricot. You can use it as a mild salad dressing for a healthier alternative to many of the commercial dressings available but it is equally as good to apply directly to your skin! It is easily absorbed by the skin, which makes it perfect as a natural moisturiser for dry or ageing skin.

Thought of the Month….

…….that there is a solution to every problem.

Nothing is insoluble. Nothing. Do everything that you can to avoid the temptation of thinking that what is facing you now is insurmountable. That is simply not true.

You cannot see the solution; of course, if you are convinced it is not there. So you must have great faith in life. Do you have great faith in life? Now would be a good time to show it. Smile. Relax. It’ll all be okay.

Neale Donald Walsch

Did you know…?

The herb Rosemary – was used to keep meat before the invention of the refrigerator? Rosemary is a natural preservative and meats were covered with the herb and wrapped for storage. Today, the needle-like leaves of rosemary are used to flavour poultry, pork, lamb, rice, tomato and egg dishes. Chop and sprinkle the leaves over salads and lay fresh, leafy stems on cuts of meat while cooking. Add fresh leaves to butters, sugars and oils, cool summer drinks, marinades for fish and poultry and sauces for vegetables. The newest growth should be used for cooking while older growth is ideal for potpourri, sachets and crafts.

Rosemary can also be used in handmade soaps, lotions, hair conditioners and shampoos. Medicinally, rosemary is said to have antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It is thought to be useful in the treatment of colds, flu, fatigue and headaches. Infused into massage oil, it is beneficial for rheumatic and muscular pain and great in the bath to alleviate aching joints, exhaustion, to help indigestion and as a decongestant. Rosemary grows freely in window containers and gardens all year round

Have you ever tried…?

Dandelion… There are times in life for both men and women when water weight seems to be bloating the entire body. Many over the counter water pills are simply massive amounts of caffeine, which can leave you feeling jittery. Dandelion, however, is a natural diuretic that works wonders in the body. Dandelion contains Vitamin A, D, C and B and helps to gently push the excess water from the body. Not in the mood for a pill? The leaves of those menacing dandelions in your front yard are completely edible. Just pluck, wash and enjoy in a salad.

Thought of the Month….

.

…...that change cannot be avoided in life. So do not resist change, embrace it.

Life is changing all the time — and certainly the day-to-day conditions on our planet are changing now in ways we could not have expected — so the fact of change is real and very present.

Our invitation from life is to not let changes get us down, but to lift ourselves up, and move past them.

Neale Donald Walsch

Did you know…?

Have you ever had a back massage and noticed afterwards that the skin is all flushed or pink? Or exercised like a demon and every bit of you is hot except your thighs and buttocks?

This is because our circulation system has trouble getting blood into the stationary and fattier areas of our bodies. When we move, it’s easy to create a blood flow into our arms and legs but getting it into our torso is another matter. This is where regular massage comes in. Massage will help to get that circulation flowing. And at the same time it relieves muscle pain, inflammation, tension, and stress. What a bargain!

So, if you can, treat yourself to one a month at least and get that blood flowing.

Have you ever tried…?

Sage – Forget your deodorant, try some sausage! All jokes aside, the spice that gives sausage that sausage taste is sage. Sage is the most effective anti-perspirant man can use. This wonder herb cuts body perspiration by 50%. The herb can also be used as a preservative, for indigestion, to lower blood sugar levels and it can even stop a sore throat.

Thought of the Month….

……..that there is a Chinese proverb: Great doubts deep wisdom. Small doubts little wisdom.

Never stop doubting, never stop questioning, never, ever assume you have all the answers. Having all the answers kills the question itself; renders it lifeless — and you, too

Keep looking, keep seeking. Never, ever find it all. Because when you find it all, you deny that there is more. And there is never not more.  Neale Donald Walsch

Toothpaste for that problem pimple. Oily skin is more prone to pimples and acne. This is due to the clogging of the pores with oils which prevent the old skin from shedding. Toothpaste can help dry out the pimple to heal faster. If you find your skin is irritated by the toothpaste – try calamine lotion. It offers the same drying treatment for pimple relief.

Have you ever tried…?

Saffron – Got a little, or a lot, of money to burn? Saffron, one of the most expensive herbs available for purchase today, offers hypertension reducing qualities when brewed in a tea. As an added benefit for the outrageous cost, saffron also lowers cholesterol and calm the risk factors most often associated with heart attacks and strokes.

Thought of the Month….

…….just when it looks like life is falling apart, it may be falling together for the first time.

I have learnt to trust the process of life and not so much the outcome. Destinations have not nearly as much value as journeys.

So maybe you should let things fall apart at this juncture if that’s what’s happening. Don’t hang on so tenaciously. The nice thing about things falling apart is that you can pick up only the pieces that you want…...   (Neale Donald Walsch)

Using hair conditioner as a shaving cream? I was in the shower this morning and I noticed my can of favourite shaving cream was kaput! I reached for my hair conditioner and lathered it on thick and shaved easier and closer than ever before. Afterwards, I took a spin on the Internet and voila, others are doing it too. The conditioner leaves the hair softer and thus easier to cut off.

Have you ever tried…?

Strawberries for smoother feet. Strawberries are full of antioxidants that can help to treat the dry skin so eager to take over those feet. In order to utilize the power of the strawberry, mix 8 to 10 strawberries with 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil. Throw in a teaspoon of coarse or Kosher salt and you have one healthy foot scrub that will work just as well as any pumice stone!

Thought of the Month….

…that life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.

Florence Scovel Shinn.” So before you think, do, or say anything — imagine what it would be like to receive what you are sending.

Then, go one step further. Decide ahead of time what you would like to receive…and then send it. Quite deliberately. That is, give to, or cause in the life of, another  what you would like to now experience.  (Neale Donald Walsch)

Thyme can heal all scalp irritation… The kitchen cupboard is the place where ‘thyme stands still’. When it comes to beauty and health, this tasty herb can also relieve an itchy scalp. Boiling 2 cups of water and adding 4 to 5 tablespoons of thyme will create an herbal infusion that can stop all the scalp scratching. The infusion will need to boil for 10 minutes. Then drain the thyme out of the water.  Make sure to cool the water completely before using on the scalp and also do a test patch first!

Have you ever tried…?

Roses for stress relief. The power of the scent of a rose is evident. From those first few sniffs, the mind clears away and only beautiful thoughts remain. Taking this effect to a whole new level, if you like roses you could try ending your day with a rose petal bath. Simple add one cup of fresh rose petals to warm water. Can’t find rose petals, try mixing 1/2 cup of rose water with 1/2 cup of coconut milk and enjoy.

Thought of the Month….

….that love is not what you want, it is what you are. It is very important to not get these two confused.

If you think that love is what you want, you will go searching for it all over the place. If you think love is what you are, you will go sharing it all over the place. The second approach will cause you to find what the searching will never reveal.

Yet you cannot give love in order to get it. Doing that is as much as saying you do not now have it. And that statement will, of course, be your reality. No, you must give love because you have it to give. In this will you experience your own possession of love. (Neale Donald Walsch)

Did you know…?

Many people still use alcohol to clean oily, acne prone skin but did you know that treating skin with a drying agent like alcohol will only make acne problems worse? Alcohol dries the skin and increases the number of flaking skin cells. These skin cells are at the heart of acne. When the skin cells block the sebaceous (oil) glands of the face, the backup causes what we all know as a pimple. The more dry skin cells, the more chance of the pores becoming blocked and causing more acne.

Have you ever tried…?

Vitamin E is great for hands. After a trip to the salon, I noticed the manicurist placing a serum with Vitamin E in it on my nails before filing down the rough skin around the fingertips. Vitamin E is a natural moisturizer and antioxidant that can help to soften the skin of the hands and fingers. Vitamin E also makes cuticle removing easier and less painful.

Thought of the Month….

…that yearning for a new way will not produce it. Only ending the old way can do that.

You cannot hold onto the old all the while declaring that you want something new. The old will defy the new; the old will deny the new; the old will decry the new.

There is only one way to bring in the new. You must make room for it. (Neale Donald Walsche)
