Letting Go to Grow: How Releasing Control Fuels Personal Transformation

By Soul Essence New Eltham London UK

We often feel the need to control every part of our lives—our careers, relationships, and even the future. While having a sense of control can feel safe, it can also hold us back. True personal growth happens when we learn to let go of the things we can’t control and trust the process of life. Letting go creates space for new opportunities, deeper understanding, and inner peace.

Why Holding On Feels Safe

Control gives us a sense of security. When we feel like we’re in charge, life seems more predictable and less chaotic.

  • We try to control outcomes because we fear failure or disappointment.
  • We hold on to unhealthy relationships or habits because they feel familiar.
  • We resist change because the unknown feels risky and uncertain.

However, the need to control everything often leads to stress, frustration, and emotional exhaustion. When things don’t go as planned, we feel anxious and powerless. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means releasing the need to control things beyond your reach and focusing on what you can change.

How Letting Go Fuels Growth

When you stop trying to control everything, you create space for growth and transformation. Letting go allows you to:

  • Discover new opportunities that you couldn’t see before.
  • Build emotional strength and resilience by learning to adapt.
  • Develop trust in yourself and in life’s natural flow.

Letting go is about shifting from fear to trust, from resistance to acceptance.

How to Let Go and Grow

Releasing control is a process—it doesn’t happen overnight. Here are some simple steps to help you let go and create space for personal growth:

1. Identify What You Can and Can’t Control

Not everything in life is within your control—and that’s okay.

  • You can’t control how other people behave, but you can control how you respond.
  • You can’t control the outcome of every situation, but you can control your effort and attitude.
  • Focus on what you can change and let go of what you can’t.

When you stop wasting energy on things you can’t control, you free up mental and emotional space for growth.

2. Accept Uncertainty

Life is unpredictable, and that’s part of its beauty. Instead of fearing the unknown, try to embrace it.

  • Remind yourself that you don’t need to have all the answers right now.
  • Trust that even if things don’t go as planned, you will find a way to adapt.
  • See uncertainty as an opportunity to learn and discover new paths.

Accepting uncertainty reduces stress and helps you stay open to new possibilities.

3. Release Perfectionism

Perfectionism can make you feel like you need to control every detail. But growth comes from trying, failing, and learning—not from being perfect.

  • Allow yourself to make mistakes without harsh judgement.
  • Focus on progress, not perfection.
  • Celebrate small wins, even if things aren’t perfect.

When you let go of the need to be perfect, you give yourself permission to grow at your own pace.

4. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps you stay present and grounded, even when life feels uncertain.

  • Take a few deep breaths when you feel overwhelmed.
  • Focus on the present moment instead of worrying about the future.
  • Let go of thoughts about “what could have been” or “what should be.”

Mindfulness helps you detach from the need to control and brings clarity to your thoughts and emotions.

5. Trust the Process

Letting go requires faith—in yourself, in others, and in life.

  • Trust that you are capable of handling whatever comes your way.
  • Believe that setbacks are part of the learning process.
  • Have confidence that life will unfold in the way it’s meant to.

When you trust the process, you allow life to guide you toward growth and transformation.

Growth Through Letting Go

Letting go is not about giving up—it’s about creating space for growth and change. When you stop trying to control every detail, you give yourself the freedom to explore new opportunities and discover your true potential.

By accepting what you can’t control, releasing perfectionism, and trusting the process, you open the door to personal transformation. Growth doesn’t happen when you hold on tightly—it happens when you learn to let go and let life flow. 🌱

Spiritual Laws – Law of Purification

There are thirty-six or more spiritual laws that offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken from Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I have already briefly explained some of the laws back in 2009. Over the coming weeks I will explain some of the laws of higher frequency. If you find this interesting, I would encourage you to read Diana’s book. I use Diana’s book when I am low or want an answer to a problem. I flick through the book and open it at a law, and more often than not, that is where I need to focus at that time.

The Law of Purification

We all have an aura surrounding us like a cloak. If your essence is pure, it forms a vast light around you, giving you protection. If you have unresolved issues, they show as dirty marks in your aura. If you are ill or in shock, you may have a wispy or non-existent aura. A negative person would have dark colours surrounding them.

When our aura is totally clear and pure, our energy does not attract harm or negativity to us. However, when there is fear in our aura, we attract hurt and danger. The more we evolve the purer our aura and light surrounding us. When someone serves us by pointing out a negative spot in our aura, known as “pressing our buttons”. We often think they are difficult and challenging people. In fact, they are our greatest servants.

Feelings like envy, jealousy, pride, and avarice will create blotches in your aura. These blotches will draw challenges to you, so you become aware of what you need to clear.

All addictions, smoking, alcohol, overeating, gambling, anything you do to suppress feelings, these are actions we repeat to stop us from releasing our emotions. We use up a lot of energy to suppress our feelings, by working with an energy healer, you can release these emotions and clear your aura and energy field.

Quote from Diana Cooper’s book.

A pure aura confers total protection and draws angels towards you.”

Understanding the spiritual laws helps us create a happy and joyous life, energy healing can also help us to follow these laws to create wealth, health and prosperity in our lives, by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc.

Spiritual Laws – The Law of Miracles

There are thirty-six or more spiritual laws that offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken from Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I have already briefly explained some of the laws back in 2009, over the coming weeks I will explain some of the laws of higher frequency. If you find this interesting I would encourage you to read Diana’s book. I use Diana’s book when I am low or want an answer to a problem I flick through the book and open it at a law, and more often than not that is where I need to focus at that time.

The Law of Miracles

When something happens which cannot be explained by our physical laws, we possibly turn to the spiritual laws.

As worldwide consciousness rises more and more people are accessing the divine, higher energies. Therefore, more people are experiencing miracles.

Genuine forgiveness and unconditional love are divine energies that enable miracles to happen.

Bitterness, hurt, and anger are heavy, repellent energies. We need to release these to reach higher energies. Writing down your anger and bitterness and then burning the paper can help you release these lower energies. Miracles are a natural result of us connecting to the higher energies.

When we ask angels or ascended masters or any being from the spiritual hierarchy of light we draw in the divine higher frequency which transcends physical laws.

Synchronicities and coincidences are a form of miracle. Spiritual forces are working behind the scenes to coordinate the vast and marvellous Universe to help predestined meetings take place. These synchronicities and coincidences are directed by God/Universe and arranged by your guides and angels, so you have the opportunity to fulfil your destiny.

Quote from Diana Cooper’s book.

“As your vibrations rise you attract more spiritual help, so miracles, synchronicities and coincidences are signals from the Universe you are on your true pathway”

Understanding the spiritual laws helps us create a happy and joyous life, energy healing can also help us to follow these laws to create wealth, health and prosperity in our lives, by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc.

Spiritual Law – Law of Healing

There are thirty-six or more spiritual laws that offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken from Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I have already briefly explained some of the laws back in 2009, over the coming weeks, I will explain some of the laws of higher frequency. If you find this interesting, I would encourage you to read Diana’s book. I use Diana’s book when I am low or want an answer to a problem, I flick through the book and open it at a law, and more often than not, that is where I need to focus at that time.

The Law of Healing

There are only two basic emotions on earth, fear and love. When we resist our chosen experiences through fear, we create blocks in our mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. This eventually causes physical disease.

Inflexible, crystallised beliefs and mental attitudes cause tension. If you hold an organ in tension long enough, something physical manifests. Denied or suppressed emotions sit within the body until they show as physical illness.

Refusing to acknowledge your spiritual self and your own magnificence, you cut off the supply of divine energy and your physical body suffers. Ill health is caused by stuck energy. When you are happy and flowing with love, the cells in your body respond by being healthy.

If you see your energy like a flowing river, which keeps flowing unless it becomes silted up. Love is a high-frequency energy that keeps the energy in your body clear and flowing. Energy blocks like unexpressed grief, hurt, anger, or jealousy are all low vibration and to your body is like silt blocking the flow of energy. If you open the sluice gates and send a rush of water down the river, it clears and washes it into the ocean. This is what a flow of healing energy does to our body.

You must always ask permission to give anyone healing. It is not up to you to decide what is for the other person highest good. For more information on why you cannot just give healing to someone without their permission, I suggest reading the book or contacting me directly.

Quote from Diana Cooper’s book.

“Healing takes place when high-frequency energy flows through the body, transmuting the stuck energy which caused the disease.”

Understanding the spiritual laws helps us create a happy and joyous life. Energy healing can also help us follow these laws to create wealth, health and prosperity in our lives by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc.

Spiritual Laws – Frequency or Vibration

Fear is a low-frequency heavy vibration, whereas love calmness and peace are high-frequency light vibrations. We have all been in a situation where humour has lifted the energy. Love heals the heavy emotion of grief. Light vibration will transmute the heavy ones.

Critical and cynical people send out arrows of low-frequency energy, we struggle to be around this energy,  we make jokes to lighten the energy or move away and talk to someone else. Anger and rage are low energies and below that energy is always fear and a feeling of powerlessness. While we are calm and centred we remain in high vibration and able to be in our power and calmly speak our truth, so we can release the feelings of anger and rage.

We all know animals can pick up the frequencies we can’t. A dog will always bark/growl at someone who is scared of dogs. Horses will also respond to your energy. Children do the same they can sense when teachers or parents are stressed, and behave accordingly.

Doing things because you feel you should, will also carry a low vibration. Guilt and obligation are not good reasons to do things. When you do things you enjoy or want to do you radiate high-frequency energy. Therefore the sooner you do things that give you joy and enthusiasm, the quicker you will raise your energy and those around you to high frequency.

Use affirmations to help programme your subconscious. Use your imagination to visualise confidence, joy and beautiful colours around you.  Once you realise who you are and accept it you will start to raise yourself to a high-frequency person.

Illness and disease have a heavy vibration that blocks the flow of your life force. Healing is when high-frequency energy is sent or channelled to the ill person. Energy healing can help shift you from low vibration to high vibration contact Rosemary if you would like to discuss how energy healing could help you.

Success has a vibration, mix with successful people and your vibration should start to match theirs.

Understanding spiritual laws can help us create a happy and joyous life.

This information is based on Diana Cooper’s book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”.

Healthy Eating,

Most of us know sugary and processed foods are not the best choices for a healthy diet. Processed foods are any that have added ingredients. Try to eat at least 80% of fresh food.

  1. Vegetables are packed with the nutrients our body needs; they should be a major part of your healthy diet. Try experimenting with different recipes, finding ones you like, and use them in your lunches and dinners.
  2. Eating proper meals and healthy snacks. Snacking all day makes us think we are not eating much, but we miss out on essential nutrients and eat wasted calories. Eating healthy fats and proteins in complete meals helps to fill us up. If you need a snack, the following are more nutritional and keep you fuller longer, hardboiled egg, a portion of cheese, avocado, apple or other fruit, nuts, and red pepper with guacamole, cucumber slices with hummus, dried unsweetened coconut, and olives.
  3. What we drink, there is no nutritional benefit to alcohol, fizzy drinks, or fruit squashes. The caffeine acts as a diuretic, we, therefore, need to drink more fluids to replace those lost through drinking drinks high in caffeine.  Opting for green tea, herbal tea, or black coffee (keeping our coffee intake to no more than two cups a day, preferably cutting it out altogether).  The best fluid to drink is pure plain water, there are no calories or additives to worry about.  Drinking a glass of water before every meal will make you feel less hungry, and you will be drinking three glasses a day.

Exercise

We all know exercise is good for our bodies, however, it is so easy to sit and watch telly with a snack instead.

1.Walk More

Regular movement is key to so many health benefits. Aim for at least 10,000steps a day. Start easy, with these smallways to walk more and be healthier!

  • Decide to only take the stairs if you are walking less than six floors.
  • Park further away from supermarket entrance when you go shopping.
  • Walk during your work breaks.
  • Plan a walking meeting, or take your phone call while you walk.
  • Get up ten minutes earlier in the morning and take a short brisk walk before the chaos of the day.
  • Walk your kids to or from school, walk to work if it is close.
  • Take a family walk with the kids after dinner.
  • Schedule a once a week walk with a friend.
2. Short Workouts

Long workouts are not necessary to be healthy.  For most of us, trying to fit in more than 20 minutes is a challenge.  We can try running on the spot or doing some squats while waiting for the kettle to boil or any other time we have a spare five minutes. We can do several basic exercises at home, squats, lunges, push-ups, tricep dips, plank, wall sits, burpees, and mountain climbers, these all get our muscles working again. There is lots of information on how to do these on the internet if you have never done them. You may want to get a professional to show you, though.  Build on this slowly over time, if we have been sedentary for a while, it will take several weeks to get our bodies moving again.

Healthy Mind

This is a balanced mental and emotional state. Where you are productive, feel confident, face your fears, and learn from your mistakes. To keep our minds healthy, we need to exercise and eat healthy as I have already discussed above and get enough sleep and stay mentally active. Your brain is similar to a muscle and needs to be used like any other muscle in your body.

  1. Sleep, getting seven to eight hours of sound sleep, should be our aim. Tracking your sleep with a Fitbit or similar helps you see how well you are sleeping. In a deep sleep is where tissue growth and repair take place. If we are not getting enough deep sleep, we will not feel as refreshed in the morning. Download my tips for a Good Nights Sleep.
  2. Mental Activity. Things to keep your brain healthy include mental activity, crossword puzzles, sudoku, reading, playing cards, and doing jigsaw puzzles. These all help train your brain. There are electronic games for brain training available too. Watching television does nothing to stimulate the brain as it is a passive activity.
  3. Stress has a significant impact on our minds and can contribute to memory loss. Therefore it is important to try to reduce your stress levels. Exercise, relaxation, good sleep, many of the things already mentioned will help reduce stress. Social interaction also helps our stress levels look for ways to connect with loved ones, friends, and others, especially if you live alone. Brain atrophy has been linked to solitary confinement, making the recent periods of lockdown hard for many. Therefore, it is important to stay socially active via the many online means during this time until we can meet face to face again.

Healthy Spirit

The spiritual part of our wellness is the most personal and overlooked piece of living a healthy life. We all would like to live with meaning and purpose, when this is met, we have harmony in our life. Here are some tips for spiritual wellness.

  1. Your spiritual core. By working with a group or therapist exploring your spiritual centre, you will ask yourself deep questions about who you are and your meaning. You may meditate on Who am I? What is my purpose? What do I value most?. Doing this will help you think deeply about yourself and help you achieve fulfilment in your life, possibly clearing energy blocks that are holding you back.
  2. Meditation this is a healthy spiritual practise, where you connect to yourself. Meditation has many benefits for your health. Start slowly, if you are not used to the practice start with clearing your mind of thoughts and focusing on your breath for 3 to 5 minutes each morning before you get up and evening before you go to sleep. Once you have mastered 5 minutes increase to 10, gradually increase by 5 minutes until you can do 20 minutes.

Benefits:-   (for more information on these benefits read my post “About Meditation and the Benefits)

  • Improved health
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Decreased stress
  • Deep rest
  • Reversal of the ageing process
  • Increased perception and memory

Spiritual Laws – Law of Meditation

There are thirty six or more spiritual laws which offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken from Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I will briefly explain each law over the coming weeks, if you find this interesting I would encourage you to read Diana’s book. I use Diana’s book when I am low or wanting an answer to a problem I flick through the book and open it at a law, and more often than not that is where I need to focus at that time.

The Law of Meditation

Meditation requires you to place yourself away from the hustle and bustle of life in order to hear the still quiet of the Divine/Source/Universe.

When you’re having a conversation with someone who is always talking and never listens, they talk right over you, you try and disconnect as soon as possible. The Universe will metaphorically put the receiver down if you do not listen to its replies.

If you pray and don’t take time to listen to the reply, you get no response, your mind chatter won’t let the Divine/Source/Universe get a word in edgeways. The aim and intention of meditation is to quiet the mind, stop the internal chatter/ego long enough for Source to drop in the seeds of guidance and wisdom. During these moments we are open to inspiration and answers to our questions.

We live in heaven or hell according to our inner world. Meditation allows our divine self to expand so we free ourselves from hell and create heaven. Many people prefer to meditate by doing gardening, walking in nature, playing music, painting or drawing, silencing the mind chatter and opening your right brain to receive inspiration.

With any spiritual practise it helps to have a regular routine and meditate at the same time and place each day. If you can create an alter to place candles, crystals, things that are sacred to you, to raise the vibration even better.

Quotes from Diana Cooper’s A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws

“In the silence you will receive pearls of divine wisdom.”

Understanding these laws can help us create a happy and joyous life, energy healing can also help us to follow these laws to create wealth and prosperity in our lives, by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc..

Spiritual Laws – Law of Prayer

There are thirty six or more spiritual laws which offer excellent ways for us to understand life on earth, some of the following text has been taken from Diana Cooper’s fantastic book “A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws”. I will briefly explain each law over the coming weeks, if you find this interesting I would encourage you to read Diana’s book. I use Diana’s book when I am low or wanting an answer to a problem I flick through the book and open it at a law, and more often than not that is where I need to focus at that time.

The Law of Prayer

Prayer is communicating with God, the universe, the creator, whatever we refer to our source as. Every thought and word we send out is prayer. Worry is negative prayer, telling our source how frightened we are and reinforcing the things we don’t want to happen.

When praying we should pray from our hearts and with pure intention if we wish our prayer to be answered. If you use anger, manipulation, greed, bargaining our source is unlikely to respond to your prayer.

The Law of prayer is to ask – believing that it will be granted. Faith is an active ingredient in bringing our prayers to realisation. The moment you offer a prayer to source, begin thanking the source for it. Also make preparations for what you have asked for. Have faith that it will be granted. Many people pray with out really expecting the prayer to be answered, so they take no action. They do not realise it is faith that activates a response from the universe/source. When you pray with others and all hold the vision, it strengthens the power or the prayer.

Love wants you to have your hearts desire. Love does not want his beloved to suffer. God is love. The block to receiving is at your end.

Many people pray for something they are not prepared to receive. Diana Cooper gave the example of a person praying for a car and being offered a car from an elderly aunt and replying “I can’t possibly accept your car”. It was only later he had realised his prayer was being answered.

Asking for something bad to happen to someone else of asking for victory over someone else is a mockery of prayer. The negative energy eventually boomerangs back to hit the sender.

Activating the Law of Prayer

First ask

Then detach from the result,

Thank God for responding,

Hold your faith,

Prepare for it to be granted

Quotes from Diana Cooper’s A Little Light on the Spiritual Laws

“Ask believing, and it is already granted.”

Understanding these laws can helps us create a happy and joyous life, energy healing can also help us to follow these laws to create wealth and prosperity in our lives, by helping to remove anger, negative beliefs etc..
